[Chrishell] On Her Childhood

“My mom was such a badass. There were so many things I felt embarrassed by. Like they were always late to pick me up, but honestly, they were rockstars and they were themselves. You realize how cool they are once you grow up.” Molly asks Chrishell about the story behind her name. “My mom was having car trouble,” explains Chrishell. “And she was pregnant and went to a Shell station that had a mechanic on-site. She actually went into labor while she was there, and she was soon taken to the hospital via ambulance. The man working there was so lovely to her and holding her hand, and his name was Chris. She wanted to incorporate his name somehow, and name me after him for helping her,” Stause revealed. “And so she thought Chris, and it was at a Shell, so it’s Chrishell. My dad used to always joke, ‘it’s a good thing it wasn’t a Texaco or you’d be Chrisexaco.'”

[Chrishell] On Writing Her Book

“You recently wrote a book titled, Under Construction Because Living My Best Life Took A Little Work. What inspired you to write a book?” asks Molly. “When I started writing this, I wasn’t intending on writing a book,” explains Chrishell. “I was going through a lot and it was kind of cathartic during Covid. But what I learned is that the best way to be is always under construction. I was experiencing bad moment after bad moment and then a pandemic hit.”

[Chrishell] On Persevering Through Hard Times

“Ironically enough, with the show coming out, connecting with people and them connecting with me has been what has kept me going.”

“I think transparency is so much better than trying to pretend things are perfect.”

“I think it’s so good to be in therapy. It’s good to have that circle where you talk about the things you struggle with. For me, that’s the key. It was very humiliating and the fact I had to film a reality show during it all, I thought that would be the worst part, however, I didn’t want to lose the one thing I did have.”

[Chrishell] On Selling Sunset

“When I first went on, I was picturing an HGTV Real Estate show. I thought there would be an element of The Hills, but we have had quite the twists and turns. In soaps, it’s fun to get in those things, but when it’s not scripted it’s shocking.”

“The show has been such a blessing, and of course, at times it’s hard. It brings drama to your life that you wouldn’t normally have. I feel like I have gotten to a place where I’m so grateful for what the show has brought. It has pros and cons and the pros are way better than the cons. When I was on the show, I didn’t want to do anything that would give me anxiety. But when we had to do stuff to go outside to promote the show I chose not to go. So I took a stance of I’m not going to do it if I don’t want to. Emma is my ride or die. We became so close to fast. We live close. We’re both single and she’s a caretaker and so am I.”

[Chrishell] On Real Estate Advice

“You know the market is crazy and the interest rate is going up. There’s a lot of competition. But my 2 tips are – write a letter. If it’s a developer they will only look at numbers, but if it’s a family try to write a letter and explain why you’d love to have this house. And second, make sure you have a good agent. That is so important.”

“And some advice to the agents out there, just be really careful where you spend your money. At the end of the day, that face-to-face interaction is going to be what sells the house. And remember it can take some time to make your first deal.”

[Chrishell] On Dating

Molly asks Chrishell what her dating experience has been like post-Selling Sunset. “It’s harder because you can google me and find out everything about me,” Stause describes. “It’s intimidating because my life has been documented for the past few years. I’m just keeping an open mind when it comes to dating at the moment. I think it’s important when you’re really happy and making it a point to enjoy your life. I’m trying to be really grateful.
