[Tina] On The Start of The Bag Snob

“I had moved to Texas, got married, and had a baby, and I had a hard time having children. I wouldn’t leave him with a nanny. I became obsessed with my baby,” explains Tina. She mentions her friend who shared a love for designer bags. Tina would call her and chat about all the latest finds. Tina describes how she left a 20-minute voicemail speaking about his new handbag she had to have, and her friend’s husband asked her, “what kind of psychopath leaves a 20-minute voicemail about a handbag? I was like, you’re right. So then we started writing about it. It was just a journal for two new moms who had a passion for something. It cost $20 to start this blog, and we had made $400 in 2 months.”

Tina explains how her bag obsession began. “I moved to America from Taiwan when I was little, and I could only say hi. My bags were my comfort. I still remember my hello kitty bag that I had. My bag became my security blanket.”

[Tina] On Her Skincare Obsession Turned U Beauty

“My skincare obsession started young. My grandmother made me have good skin. She said I would never have height, but I will have good skin. And good skin means confidence.”

“Before I started U Beauty, I was so tired of the cosmetic confusion. I used to be so proud of my 13 step skincare routine, but I ended up irritating my skin and having rosacea for weeks. I just wanted to find a brand that had a good selection of products, and I didn’t have to think about layering the active ingredients.”

I only cared about my skin looking good. I have a friend who told me about a factory in Italy, and they were doing extraordinary things. They were creating products that are tricking your body. They were creating products that are tricking your body, and the only time the active ingredients would be released was when free radicals appeared. It is a 360 way of thinking. It only attacks the damage.”

“I want to glow like a 5-year-old.”

“All-day long and all night. The products are resurfacing without the damage, and they do what lasers do without damage. I ended up giving the products to all my friends, and that’s models, business owners, you know, pretty influential people. And people of all different ages, skin, colors, and lifestyles.”

[Tina] On Her U Beauty Skincare Routine

“First off, I double cleanse, and then I go in with the Resurfacing Compound, which replaces toners and all serums. Then I use my Super Smart Hydrator, a rich cream that hydrates, deeply penetrates, and provides a water reservoir for your skin to drink from. I also like to use this as an eye cream as well. I also use the multimodal, and that product gives you a glow. I think in the way in how I want my skin to look and feel and age, and until I can come out with an AMAZING new product, I won’t do it.”

[Tina] On Her Go-To Beauty Tools

“I am obsessed with the Tripollar face tool. It’s a radio frequency level tool that activates collagen synthesis. I also love to Gua Sha my body. Face Gua Sha is a Western idea, but I need to try it. You don’t need 500 products. You need to be strategic. As I age, I don’t have time.”

Emese asks Tina about her Professional vs. DIY Fire and Ice facial video on Instagram. “You have to heat it first and do a little glycolic peel with a yogurt mask. That’s the fire, and then you put ice over it.”

[Tina] On Her Current Fitness Routine That She’s Loving

“I work out 3-5 times a week, and I’ve been loving the Flex It app. I get to work out with J.Lo’s trainer, Joana, and it’s changed my body. I get on-demand personalized workouts, and I get a personal trainer for $45.”

[Tina] On Her Nutrition Hacks

“I eat everything. I go with my body. I don’t eat in the mornings because, as a kid, I didn’t like American breakfast. And it turns out I was intermittent fasting on accident. I love collagen & bone broth. I also love Pique Tea. It is a fermented probiotic pure green tea, and it is the cleanest tea you can buy.”
