Meet Jill & Carlene from Breaking Beauty

Jill & Carlene are long-time beauty editors who know the beauty industry inside and out. They’ve spent many years bonding over lavish press trips and beauty events all over the world. Makeup

Bronzer

Molly starts the summer roundup with her favorite Chanel dupe bronzer, SOL by Colourpop. This face and body bronzing balm instantly delivers a sun-kissed, just back from vacay look & it’s only $15. Carlene shares her favorite bronzer, the Milk Matte Cream Bronzing Stick. “It’s matte and you can add highlighter after. It’s perfect for a natural look,” says Carlene. Emese mentions her love for the Charlotte Tillbury Airbrush Bronzer. Emese describes it as, “a filtered blurred effect, that comes in 8-10 shades, and doesn’t make you orange”. And Jill gives a shoutout to Patrick Ta and his New Major Sculpt Cream Contour and Powder Bronzer Duo. She explains, “he translates the looks that he does into his products”. In using this product, “you get a bronze look with the duality of the cream powder”.

Bronzing Drops & Setting Sprays

Moving on the bronzing drops & setting sprays, Jill shares the pai. Hyaluronic Acid & Sea Kelp Bronzing Drops “It’s perfect for the low maintenance girl who wants the lit from within glow,” says Jill. “It’s a copper bronzing drop that you mix into your moisturizer”. Molly recommends a similar product, Lux Unfiltered N12 Bronzing Drops by influencer Sivan Ayla. Along with a good bronzer, Emese & Carlene mention the perfect setting sprays to complete your summer look. Emese loves the Tom Ford Hylaronic Energizing Mist. It works as a setting spray and, “it gives you a great dewy look”, Emese says. Bonus: she uses it to wake her up when she’s dragging at work for a boost of energy. Carlene loves the Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Glow Setting Powder. She describes it as all about that glow and still perfect for the t-zone.

Concealer

Jill loves the Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Face and Under-Eye Concealer. “It’s amazing under the eyes and it doesn’t spread into any creases”, explains Jill. Molly recommends her cult-favorite from Rodial, the Banana Lowlighter. “It’s constantly sold out because it’s that good”, says Molly. While Emese recommends her personal cult-favorite, Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Face Filter. Lastly, Carlene shares the new Victoria Beckham Priming Moisturizer that everyone purchased immediately because it’s that good.  

Color Corrector

Carlene mentions how she has a very fair complexion and red spots show up on her skin very easily. She shares what has been working for her, the Dr. Jart Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment & SPF. She uses it as a moisturizer and, “it has a green tint that is great for people who run red“, says Carlene.

Foundation

Emese shares her love for Westman Atelier Vital Skin Foundation Stick. “I like to have a few on hand always in different colors depending on how tan I am”, explains Emese.

Cream Blush

Molly kicks off the cream blush portion with Kosas 8th Muse in Cool Pink Creme. Jill shares a new brand she is loving, Tower 28. She loves the BeachPlease Lip +Cheek Cream Blush. “Tower 28 is a brand inspired by the beach in Santa Monica and is owned by a woman of color”, says Jill. Carlene brings us back to a classic brand, Benefit. She’s loving the Play Tint Lip & Cheek Tint in Pink Lemonade. “It’s a cheek stain”, says Carlene. She loves this product specifically because other cream blushes rub off throughout the day, but this product stays put. “I put an X on the apple of my cheeks and it goes on bright coral, but just give it a few minutes, and it sets in perfectly”.

 

Lips

Nothing screams summer like a glowy tan and hydrated plump lips. Molly shares some of her favorites: By Terry #8 Red Shot, Cle de Peau Radiant Liquid Rogue Shine, Westman Atelier Squeaky Clean Lip Balm & of course the Tom Form Frost Balm. Carlene loves the Coola Classic Hydrating Lip Oil with SPF 30. A lipgloss and sunscreen? Yes, please. Jill shares a tinted Lip Cushion from EM Cosmetics & her new obsession Nars Soft Matte Tinted Lip Balm. And last but not least, Emese shares a classic, the Cle de Peau Lip Glorifier and they all discuss how they nailed that formula & the name.

Skincare

Serums

Emese shares her love for Biologique Recherche Finishing Serum, while Carlene shares her love for Clarins Double Serum. Jill mentions Skinceuticals Silymarinn CF and that it is one of the only Vitamin C serums formulated for oily skin.

SPF

Molly loves the Glow Screen Body from Supergoop! She loves to pair her sunscreen with some added shimmer for the beach. Jill shares a newer brand, Evy. “It’s a Swedish brand, and it’s a foam sunscreen“, explains Jill. Emese shares her go-to from Soleil Toujour & Molly finishes it off with the Kopari Coconut Body Glow. It’s not sunscreen but it is an amazing summer product that defintiey is a must-have.
