By Mollysims.com

Monika Blunder happens to be Molly’s OG makeup artist and very dear friend. She also happens to be one of most renowned names in makeup and beauty. We were so excited to have this conversation with her—old friends really are the best one’s. We focus on how to garner good skin from within and she dishes on all her natural makeup techniques to get that flawless, glass-like finish. It’s important to note that good skin from within starts with your lifestyle before it does with product. From spot concealing to properly removing makeup to applying blush for your face shape, if you’re obsessed with looking like your most natural, best self, this episode is for you.

[Monika Blunder] On Starting Her Own Beauty Brand

“I have done makeup for 25 years, so starting my own line was a natural progression. I have carried my makeup kit for so many years, traveled all over the world, and it has been amazing. Without the experience of being a makeup artist I would have never been able to start my own line, Monika Blunder Beauty. The idea behind all of my products is that they are multi-functional. I love products that can be used on the cheeks, eyes, and the lips because it creates harmony and unity on the face. When shopping for makeup, all women think the same way. We all want products that can have our makeup done in five minutes and that will make us look a little bit better than we did before. Creating universal products that will work on everyone was my goal behind Monika Blunder Beauty, because doing your makeup should be a ritual, not a task, even if you only have five minutes.”

[Monika Blunder] On Creating Good Skin From Within

“Healthy, glowing skin stems from your lifestyle choices and the way you choose to take care of yourself. When I have a healthy diet, get enough sleep, and try to be happy, it radiates through my face. I am a big believer in skincare and always start my skin routine by using a face serum or oil because it leaves an instant glow and immediate hydration. I also recommend massaging your face with either your hands or a gua sha. It seems simple, but this is what gives the face a fresh circulation and that natural flushed look. It is so important to take care of yourself and spend time on yourself. Something that I do once a week is an “All-In Shower” where I do a hair mask, face mask, and a body scrub. I will also exfoliate my body and light a candle during this shower so that I can not only look my best, but feel my best too.”

[Monika Blunder] On Her Favorite Beauty Hacks

I am a huge fan of using a cleansing balm to remove makeup. Cleansing balms moisturize the skin instead of stripping it like other makeup removing products like wipes. I apply a thin layer of balm then wipe it off with a thin cotton towel. Immediately after I have a natural glow and hydrated skin. Instead of applying a layer of foundation all over the face, I prefer to let the skin shine on its own and spot conceal with concealer. This makes your makeup look flawless without appearing overly made up. Rather than applying a translucent powder, I like to use blotting papers instead. I get mine on Amazon and they are inexpensive, portable, and convenient. For the eyes, I like using a nude pencil to make them look awake. The goal with eyes is to contour them with darker shades to make them appear larger and more alive. The most important rule is remembering to always have fun with your makeup. It’s time you get to spend on yourself, so enjoy it.”
