Whoever said “good things come to those who wait” didn’t know Molly’s makeup artists. Besides, who has the time to spend an hour putting on makeup? Or even ten minutes? On the other hand, give us a quickie makeup hack – and we’re here for it. We tapped the pros for some ideas.
Stain the lips. Instead of lip liner, a lip pencil, or a lip brush, use your finger to turn your lipstick into a stain. Choose a color the same shade your that your lips get when you bite them, swipe the lipstick with your fourth finger (it’s the weakest), and dab on the middle of your mouth outward. Tap and dab, dab, and tap. Voilà stained lips.
Curl your lashes. Skip mascara and grab your curler instead—you can’t mess up or smudge and it has the same eye-opening effect. “If my clients need a quick pick-me-up, I always turn to my eyelash curler,” says makeup artist Spencer Barnes.
Skip white. Any place you were going to use white, especially a trace of white eye pencil on your waterline, use a nude pencil instead. Charlotte Tilbury Rock ‘N’ Kohl Eyeliner Pencil “is a natural and sexier version,” says Barnes. And if your application isn’t precise, you’re all good.
Blot your skin to smooth. Instead of concealer, foundation, powder, and the whole routine, press Boscia Clear Complexion Blotting Linens on to the nose, chin, and forehead. That’s it. Think of it as applying a layer of loose translucent powder without all the time and mess.
