How To Throw A Halloween Tea Party For Toddlers

Last week I decided to throw a little tea party for my Scarlett. Although we called it a “tea party” it was more of a “pumpkin decorating and cookie” party! In my book, Everyday Chic, we talk about throwing a party and it all stems from a theme. Well, today I’m going to share how we threw this event together with a simple idea that helped make this party come together.

So the idea first came to me when Scarlett was really upset that Brooks had all of these new friends from his Kindergarten class; he was getting invited to playdates left and right. I felt like I needed to do something for Scar and all of her friends in the neighborhood since she felt left out. First, I picked out an invitation on Paperless Post and that helped with the decor.

The Decor

I sent the invitation to my incredibly talented friend, Nicola Vruwink who does some great work with Hello Poni! She painted various pumpkins that are inspired by our invite and made these adorable monsters made out of bamboo that the kids were able to take home as party favors. In addition to the party decorations, she decorated my entire home for the holiday. You can reach out to her directly if you want her to whip something up for either Halloween or the upcoming holidays!

People always ask me where we get our table and chair rentals and we always get them from Teak and Lace!

In terms of utensils and other decor, I relied on my favorite, Meri Meri decorations. I pretty much got all of the miscellaneous party supplies from them. All of which, you can purchase by clicking on the images below.

The Food

This is where we really got to have some fun! I recently met this woman, Shanti and she is a phenomenal chef. I called her up a few weeks before the party asking her to make some desserts and she came up with these masterpieces. The parents probably hated me because they had all the dairy, gluten and sugar that you could possibly imagine! It wasn’t your average Stuber/ Sims party but we’re celebrating Halloween so we couldn’t omit the sugar. Thankfully we had some crudite and pizza to balance the kids’ sugar levels.

The Activities

As if we didn’t have enough sweets at this party, we brought in my favorite, Little Sparks Cookies to set up a cookie decorating station. Let me tell you… Scar was glued here all afternoon.

Secondly, we had a pumpkin decorating station. We didn’t want paint because who knows what could happen with a bunch of 3 year olds and paint. And we didn’t want to carve because of the obvious. So instead we filled a wagon with 20 small pumpkins and got pumpkin decorating foam stickers at Michaels. I didn’t know they existed until now and the kids loved it. And guess what… they were mess free!

The Photo Booth

Lastly, what’s a party without a photo booth?! Sarah Block Photography set up this photo booth and it was such a hit! She also took 90% of the photos that are in this blog.

Last but definitely not least, I’d want to thank my dear friend, Amy Suchman for putting together all of the little details. I appreciate you so much!
