Lipstick on the Rim: Fashion Royalty and Ultimate Tastemaker, Lauren Santo Domingo, Puts Her Stamp on the Most Extravagant Beauty Indulgences and the Best People, Places, and Things

By Mollysims.com

What do you think of when you first read the letters ‘LSD?’ While her initials are synonymous with the drug, one could say that Lauren Santo Domingo similarly has a psychedelic effect. Let’s be clear. This is a woman who started her career with a brief stint as a model, then transitioned to a Vogue editor, and took her learnings and spun them into a revelatory concept to shift the way people shop. Enter Moda Operandi—the luxury e-commerce platform that modernized the ye olde trunkshow. As if that wasn’t enough, Lauren, is a fashion girl’s catnip and the ultimate tastemaker. With the recent launch of beauty at Moda, we thought, who better to teach us a thing or two about the most lavish, worthy beauty indulgences than LSD herself? As someone who takes great pride on being anything but a gatekeeper, we know this to be true—sharing really is caring.

Best facialist: Ivan Pol a.k.a. The Beauty Sandwich. He is almost more than a facialist. Instead of making sure your skin looks great he actually re-shapes the structure of your face. He calls it the sandwich because there are three levels of your skin that he’s either zapping or pulling or tightening. It makes a noticeable difference and will last for about 48 hours.”

Best hair stylist: “I use Jacob Rozenberg who worked for Harry Josh for years on set. He went off to start his own studio. I see him for cut and color. He travels for all the shows and sees all the celebrities. He’s really focused on hair health—my hair is not super healthy. He makes sure when he’s cutting or highlighting to maintain the structure of the hair.”

Best dermatologist: “Basically my entire face is Dr. Devgan. She thinks beauty should be thought about in millimeters not centimeters. Those millimeters is what actually will completely change your face and open up your eyes. The idea that you apply millimeters to your entire face—because that’s all you need—the tiniest adjustments here and there. That’s what she does best.”

“There’s an amazing spa in the Hamptons called Shou Sugi Ban House that is world-class. It’s Japanese-inspired treatments and there are week-long retreats.

I am a lymphatic massage obsessive. In Paris, they have the best ones.

Also in Paris, the Flea Market is the one thing everyone needs to do who is visiting—there is one section called Paul Bert Serpette and that’s where they have the best design, jewelry, fashion, things for the table, modern French furniture. The Flea Market itself is vast.”
