Lipstick on the Rim: Fallen Off the Wagon with Food and Beyond? Holistic Nutritionist & Health Coach Elissa Goodman Will Get You Back on Track ASAP

By Mollysims.com

She’s a cleanse expert, a holistic nutritionist, and her greatest hope is to heal everyone around her with food. Meet Elissa Goodman, author of “Cancer Hacks” and her newest book out soon, “Pro Aging Hacks.” After struggling with various health issues for years, from Hodkin’s Lymphoma to Hashimoto’s and Celiac Disease, a light bulb went off: food was at the root of many problems, but it could also be part of the solution. Today Elissa is cancer free and feels better than ever. Having worked with thousands of clients from all walks of life, she helps them cleanse their bodies and their lives. She shares her health journey (which started as a teenager at a wellness oasis in Mexico), how she found food as medicine in a time of need, and tips for quickly resetting when you’ve fallen off course.

[Elissa] On Food as Medicine

“We have a big problem with dehydration. We have cellular dehydration. What we need are minerals like magnesium, potassium, sodium, iodine. All those minerals will help the water go into the cells. We have all this beautiful water at our fingertips but we’re just peeing it out, we’re not absorbing it. When you wake up in the morning, it’s a mandatory two cups of water, 16 oz. It’s a game changer. People just go right to coffee or tea. Your body has been cleansing all night. After water, then coffee. Bitter foods are great for digestion. Then I do green juice: cucumber, celery, lemon, ginger. It’s really hydrating and refreshing. Then I have a plant-based lunch and an animal protein dinner but I make sure I don’t overdo it with the animal protein. A lot of times I’ll take enzymes before animal protein.”

[Elissa] On Everyday Health

“I know a lot of people know this but aren’t paying attention to it because our lives are going so fast but: be kind to yourself. I was constantly beating myself up. I didn’t know what taking care of myself felt like. When I jumped into that, my body relaxed. I was in fight-or-flight consistently. Life was just going so fast and I had to be on the treadmill or I would miss out. I went into therapy and did a lot of spiritual work, breath work. And then I started cleansing but not hard core. I know there is a lot of controversy around probiotics but we find one for you until it works. Food based probiotics are amazing too.”

[Elissa] On the Immune System

“We need our vitamin D levels to be way up, 60-80ml on your blood work. It used to be 50. Any client who’s not over 50ml doesn’t feel well or have the energy. Vitamin D is really important for your gut health. K2 helps the D go into the bones. Everyone should be taking that or testing your levels. Liposomal C is a soluble form that helps the C go into the gut and system. You can go up to 1000, 2000, 3000mg.”
