A Winter Wonderland Tablescape With Mimi Brown

You guys know how much I die over a chic tablescape and floral arrangement. My good friend, Mimi Brown was a contributor writer for my fall tablescape so naturally, I turned to her again to create a winter wonderland look for December and boy did it turn out specatcular.

I’m hosting my mom’s 80th birthday next week so all of this was in good timing. Mimi put together this tablescape in a kid you not a matter of minutes. I honestly don’t know how the woman does it. She has a vision and goes with it.

Although I’d love to take the credit for this, I really can’t. Mimi Brown, you truly outdid yourself once again.

I’ll let the pro take it from here…

I love winter landscape– the leaves have all fallen off and what’s left behind is this ethereal web of branches, pods and twigs. And it’s SUCH fun material to work with. I wanted to really create a sense of winter landscape here- hence the mix of textures. I knew that I wanted to have a mixture of branches, greens, whites with touches of gold and silver. It’s a modern yet natural take on a holiday tablescape that anyone can mimic.

The vessels for the flower arrangements are silver mercury as well. These are great because they are super versatile. Perfect for holiday shopping if you are looking to do something besides the traditional red and green. Plus, they’re great for baby showers, spring luncheons- they work all year round.

Create This Tablescape

Florals: Like I said in my previous tablescape post, the flower market in downtown is absolutely incredible! If you’re anything like me, this would be your heaven. I start with what I call “face flowers” – the lisianthus and the tulips. Everything else is a mix of greenery and textures. I chose white and green florals and put them in silver toned containers with soft branches escaping organically down the table.

  • White and green parrot tulips
  • Queen Anne’s Lace
  • Dusty Miller
  • Seeded Eucalyptus
  • Olive Branches
  • Lisianthus
  • Veronica
  • Snowberry
  • Astilbe
  • Eucalyptus

Table Decor: Minimalist and earthy

Lighting: I used two different votives here- a dark platinum and a silver mercury glass. A perfect fit for Molly’s wedding china which has silver and gold rims, which is from ABC Home. I alternated each place setting with the silver and gold rim.

Table setting: I used Molly’s sterling silver flatware to bring all of the metals together. I chose to have an interesting mix of metals- brass, silvers and neutral toned ceramics- charcoal and whites. All of this was to make the table have a fresh, modern and clean look.

Linens: I chose to go crisp and simple with the linens These placemats are beautiful and delicate to go against all of the mix of metals.
