Be your own
kind of beautiful

Natural Beauty DIYs + Recipes!

If you haven’t heard of Sweet Laurel Bakery, it’s about time you have. Native Californians, Laurel Gallucci and Claire Thomas (who also has an AH-dorable blog called Kitchy Kitchen) are a serious natural beauty & baking duo. Interestingly enough, the two go very hand in hand. Sweet Laurel Bakery specializes in “beautifying” foods. This means foods that promote gut health, simplify, and are anti-inflammatory. Instead of wheat and other inflammatory ingredients, Sweet Laurel Bakery uses almond flour, coconut flour, coconut oil, flax seeds, maple syrup, and pink Himalayan sea salt for all of their baking needs.

A couple months ago, I had attended their workshop on grain-free baking. When I found they were hosting a natural beauty class in the hills of Los Angeles with the girls from How You Glow and Lux Eros, I knew I wanted in. Since becoming a mom, I’ve been a huge fan of natural beauty especially when it means I can make it myself!

Here are some recipes I learned at the workshop that you must try at home. P.S. – the natural beauty DIY’s are great for gift giving, too.

Lavender/Rose-Brown Sugar Body Scrub With Tara Sowlaty & Jessie Groveman (How You Glow)

  • 1 cup coarse brown sugar
  • ½ cup almond oil
  • 8 drops lavender essential oil

Mix your sugar and oil. You want the consistency to remain grainy, not soupy. Add in the lavender essential oil, which will give the scrub an incredible aroma. Place the mixture into jar, and leave the jar in your shower or by your sink.
