DIY Rosemary Decorations
I love, love, love the smell of Rosemary. I cook with it all the time—especially around the holidays. Since this herb actually grows in my backyard garden, I decided it would only make sense to make cute little dainty wreaths and decorations out of it. They are making my house smell AH-mazing!
Rosemary Wreath
Materials:
- Multi Purpose Wire, 12 gauge (available at any hardware store)
- Green Floral Wire
- Tape
- Multiple springs of rosemary, I foraged mine from a neighbor’s bush!
- Garden scissors or wire cutters
- Ribbon
Directions:
- Using natural curve of wire, cut a circle and secure ends with tape
- Trim the sprigs to approximately 4-5 inch long segments
- Create bundles of 2-3 the sprigs and bind with floral wire at base
- Attach to wire frame using the floral wire and overlapping each new bundle with previous with ends facing same direction
- Continue to complete the wreath, you can go back and add in additional sprigs to fill out
- Attach the ribbon for hanging purposes, I added a found red-berry sprig also foraged from neighbor’s yard!
- Hang in kitchen convenient for cooking!
Mason Jar Hanging Votives with Rosemary and Jingle Bells
Materials:
- Mason Jars
- Copper Wire
- Candle Votives
- Decorative Pebbles
- Rosemary
- Twine
- Jingle Bells
- Wire cutter and needle-nose pliers
Directions:
- Using needle nose pliers create a loop in the end of the copper wire ample enough in size to allow connecting 2 additional loops.
- Wrap the wire securely below the lowest lip on the Mason Jar ½ way around, bend out at a 45 degree angle and cut leaving a ½ inch segment
- With needle nose plier bend this segment into a loop
- Repeat with second length of copper wire but bend the loops upwards in direction instead of outwards and do not close the loop completely
- Holding the first segment of wire to the jar, attach second segment loop to loop at opposite sides of the jar and close the loops to secure
- Cut an additional approximately 15 inch segment of copper wire and bend each end into a loop leaving a small gap.
- Insert into the outward facing loop on each side of jar, securely close the loop to create the handle
- Using twine, attach several sprigs of rosemary and jingle bells and tie with a bow
- Lastly, fill bottom of jar with the pebbles, insert the votive and now you have festive lights that work both indoors or outdoors to create a holiday atmosphere.
