Celebrate Locally: Heal the Bay

We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the ocean!! Brooksie defintely takes after his mama with his love of the water and the sand.  We have spent a ton of time as a family at the beach.  It is truly one of our favorites places to be.  When I saw that Earth Day was coming up, I knew immediately where we could make a difference.

Think globally, celebrate locally! Living in Los Angeles, we get the opportunity to enjoy the beach pretty much year round.  Yes, we are spoiled and that really got me thinking about how Angelenos could give back.  Cue Heal the Bay!

Heal the Bay is a non profit environmental group working to restore Santa Monica Bay. They are extremely active in the community working hard thru education, beach clean ups and so much more. This year for Earth Day, they have organized  an amazing day of events where the whole family can participate!  You can find the complete schedule for Saturday, April 26thright here.  You really can’t go wrong with beach cleanup followed by a sand castle building competition next to the Santa Monica Pier!

Here’s my favorite little guy working on his sand castle making skills.  Maybe next year he can bring home the competition trophy??

There are so many ways we can become more engaged in our own communities to help Mama Earth.  I’m certain you would not have to look very far to find a local cause where your whole family could participate. My Earth Day resolution is to become more involved in green initiatives, volunteer more  and continue to share and teach my son the importance of taking care of the world we live in.  What are your Earth Day resolutions?  Please share with me what you and your families are doing to celebrate Earth Day.

See you at the beach!
