It’s officially wedding season! When it comes to your big day, you want to look good. Not only will you be walking down the aisle in front of your entire guest list, you’ll also be cherishing your pictures for years to come.

For my wedding day glam-squad, I chose Davy Newkirk for hair and Monika Blunder for makeup. I’ve known both of them for ages! Even though I was a long ways away from getting married when we first met, I always told them they’d be the ones to do my wedding day glam. I couldn’t be happier how it all turned out. The look was soft and romantic, and I just felt like a bride!

Whether you’re the bride-to-be, creating your “future wedding” Pinterest board, or a makeup artist yourself, here’s the step-by-step + products on how we got ready for the big day:

Hair By Davy Newkirk

I love wearing my hair down, but felt it was too risky for a hot afternoon. I did not want wedding hair-mageddon by midday. I wanted a style that was chic, fresh, and youthful—and most important, would look good all day and for years to come (in the pictures!)

Here’s how Davy styled this perfect wedding day look:

We blew out Molly’s hair for the rehearsal dinner, so we started with “second day hair” on the big day. I brushed out the knots and then sprayed on a bit of Oribe Thickening Spray. I tousled her hair with my fingers while using a blow dryer to get a base texture. I used a ponytail hairpiece and secured it with bobby pins at the highest point on the back of the head. Then, I gathered Molly’s hair and secured it around the hairpiece with a bungee as an extremely high ponytail. I then backcombed the ponytail with a large-tooth comb, making sure to keep the volume even. I smoothed it out with a boar bristle brush. I then twisted the ponytail and formed it into a large bun, securing it with hairpins.

TIP: I also roughed my fingers over the hair pulled back to give it a bit of texture and body. Then I applied a small amount of Magic Move (light hold) over the bun and base.

FOR HOLD: I sprayed the style with the Aveda Control Force firm hold hairspray.

THE DETAILS: For something a little extra, I made a small braid with some extension hair and wrapped that around the base of the bun and then binned an antique diamond broach at the base of the braid.

FOUNDATION: For a flawless look, we used Armani Luminous in 5.5

CONTOUR/CHEEK: I used Chanel bronzer to contour Molly’s face. I then used both Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Pale Pink and Summer Tan on the apple of her cheeks to get the perfect flushed bride effect. I also used a little bit of Mac Hush highlighter just on the top of her cheek bones to highlight her face.

EYES: On Molly’s eyes, I lined her upper and lower lashes with a bronze eyeliner pencil by Nars. I then used Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner in black on a thin brush and lined in between her upper lashes to give her lashes more intensity. For a shimmer, I used Nars “All About Eve”on the upper inner corners of the eyes to highlight. Then I applied Nars “Kalahari”, a bronze color, on the outer upper and lower lashes to create depth. I also used a bit of the bronze color to crease to create more definition. To finish the eyes, I used three coats of Dior Show mascara and applied false, flare eyelashes.

LIPS: To complete the look, I used Chanel Chintz lipstick. This color is my favorite for a bride because it has the perfect light pink color.

TIP: Always finish any wedding day look by powdering just the T-zone to avoid greasiness. I like to use Laura Mercier loose powder.
