As the last night of 2015 is upon us, I am busy preparing for the festivities. This year, we’re in Mexico with friends and family but that doesn’t mean I’m not planning my own signature cocktails (per usual.) The holidays are tough with all the food, desserts, and alcohol. It’s super easy to get off track and regret it come January. So, I try to make things as “healthy” as possible even cocktails.
Normally, I just serve my cocktails with fresh fruit and herbs but it’s a special occasion so I wanted to change it up. So, what’s going to make a champagne cocktail even more bubbly and delicious? Kombucha. This probiotic bubbly drink is loaded with health benefits that bring out the flavor of champagne beautifully. If enjoying a cocktail AND reaping the benefits of gut health/immunity isn’t multitasking than I don’t know what is.
Depending on what flavors you prefer, there are multiple brands of Kombucha that carry flavors from raspberry to lavender. Add a splash of lime and you have yourself a skinny and “healthier” bubbly. Cheers!
- ½ cup of champagne (dry)
- ¼ cup of Kombucha
- Squeeze of fresh lime juice
Combine ½ cup of champagne with Kombucha in champagne or cocktail glass. Finish with a squeeze of lime.
