How Scott And I Met

Tomorrow is our fifth wedding anniversary. I can't believe how fast time flies! In those five years, I've been blessed more than I could have ever imagined. Scott and I have two beautiful children together--and one on the way.

My road to finding happily ever after wasn't an easy ride, though. For anyone reading who's either single (or in a dead-end relationship), I want to assure you--have faith. I know that sounds cliche but I truly believe that.

Before I met Scott, I was freaking out. Even with all my successes, something seemed missing. I just couldn’t shake it. I had spent so much time focusing on my career that I had neglected my personal goals. Until that moment, I had been in a dead-end relationship and I was settling for less, and I knew I had to get it together.

And, that's when Scott came into my life. We had actually known each other for quite a few years through work. One night, I had run into him and sensed a bit of a sizzle factor. The next day, I got an email from him. He was tall, clever, handsome, and best of all--really funny. I was over being single and over settling for less. Scott and I were both on the same page. I didn't play any games and neither did he.

The holidays came and went smoothly. We spent more and more time together and began merging family and friends. I loved the simple moments we shared as much as the more glamorous ones, and I started to feel like I was part of a team.

Within about six months of dating, I knew. I was lying in bed one morning and he was out of town for work--and suddenly in one moment I realized this was it. I didn't want to be with anyone else. I had fallen in love with Scott not only for the man I knew he was, but with the man I knew he would be: a great husband, father, and true partner.

After a year and a half of dating, we got engaged, six months later we married, and the day after that (on our honeymoon) we conceived, Brooks. (Yep..we didn't waste any time!)

Not to be too dramatic, but where I am in my life is a place I've always dreamed about. I feel so blessed to have him as my partner. He's truly the best!
