FLEA MARKET FINDS: Perfectly Mismatched Chairs

FLEA MARKET FINDS: Perfectly Mismatched Chairs

I’m a flea market fiend. Along with antique shops, thrift stores and eBay, flea markets are some of my favorite places to shop for truly unique, conversation starter-type home décor pieces. But one dilemma I’ve come across in the past is when I find a fantastic one-of-a-kind piece that’s, well, one of a kind! Now this isn’t a problem with artwork or standalone furniture items of course, but what about things like dining room chairs or nightstands that are usually part of a set?

If your taste is a little eclectic like mine, creating your own “set” of deliberately mismatched chairs can be a fabulous option. A good rule is to stick with one design element in all of the chairs you collect (like metal, wood, a certain color scheme, or at the least, a certain era), but otherwise have fun with it. When done right, the mismatched chair trend is absolutely charming. It’s also a great way to incorporate one particularly expensive chair you love if buying multiples is too much of a splurge.

What do you think about the mismatched chair trend? Would you ever give it a try?
