My Beauty Must-Haves!

Last week you learned about the tools of the trade, the eight makeup brushes I, personally, can’t live without! This week, it’s all about the products. In my book, The Everyday Supermodel, my experts and I put together a list of a few of our favorite beauty steal and splurges.

Here are the products we LOVE and can’t live without-your everyday supermodel makeup artist arsenal. Okay, so you don’t need all this stuff, but a girl can dream…

First of all, if you don’t know what primer is, let’s chat. It helps minimize pores, gives skin a natural radiance, and helps makeup stay put! I always use a primer for special events. My makeup artist, Monika, loves Clarins Beauty Flash Primer, which instantly brightens and tightens the face and is universal for every skin color. For a fresh and natural makeup-artist-created Heir Atelier.

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk and Cle de Peau are makeup artist staples. My friend Emese loves the Japanese brand Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation for a state-of-the-art finish.

I love LORAC Double Feature Concealer. Sometimes just an extra layer of your foundation will do.

Cream Blushes:

Stila cream blushes are ALL good. My favorites from Bobbi Brown are Pale Pink and Summer Tan. Jouer and RMS have natural shades. Keep in mind, anything in tangerine is universally pretty.

Powder Blushes:

Nars Orgasm and Nars New Order are classics. My friend and model Veronika Varekova loves Lipstick Queen blush for a perfect flush.

Brow Pencil:

MAC wax pencils are great and don’t smudge. Givenchy brow pencils are soft and easy to use, as are Lancome’s. PerfeKt Brow Perfection Gels are nice for a natural, feathered brow look a la model Cara Delevingne. (You can even experiment with color and temporarily lighten or darken your brow color with them.)

Everyone agrees Chantecaille Gel Bronzer is a perfect shimmery bronze gel (no televangelist’s wife here!”) The cream-to-powder bronzer/blush duo by Hourglass in Illume is also very pretty. Monika loves Soleil Tan de Chanel Bronze Universal and Tom Ford’s bronzer. (“It looks very dark,” she says, “but it isn’t really. Don’t be intimidated.”)

Chantecaille, Tom Ford, and LORAC all make great versions of these.

Eye Shadow:

Tom Ford Golden Mink shimmery neutrals palette is my all-time favorite. You can’t beat Nars Alhambra in a pinky/pearly shade for a soft, eye-opening look. I also love Jouer cream eye shadow in Cashmere, which coats the eye in barely there neutral, with a satiny finish.

Laos by Sue Devitt is a buttery brownish/bronze eye pencil I use a lot. Via Appia by Nars is my favorite creamy eye pencil for a rich, shimmery bronze. Generally, I love the Larger Than Life collection of long-wear eye pencils by Nars. MAC Black eyeliner is nice and blendable, and MAC Night Sky black shimmer pencil is fun! Laura Mercier Metallic Cream Eye Color in Burnished Coppers, another universal shade.

Tightlining Eyeliners:

These liners are for lining the water-line or the inside of the eyelid. For a nude, Rue Bonaparte by Nars is a winner. For a whiter look, I like the Benefit eye brightener. Both effectively help to open the eye and achieve a fresher look.

We all love Tom Ford’s. They are like fashion for your face. Monika’s fave is Tainted Love. Red Lipstick Chanel #65 Fire is a classic. I wore Rue Coco Chanel #35 on my wedding day, a soft pinky rose.

Clinique Moisturizing Gloss in Black Honey is an all-time favorite. Flower glosses by Drew Barrymore are pretty and all very wearable. Bare Minerals and City Lips make gorgeous, high-shine glosses that plump too. Finally, By Terry’s balm. My lips never leave home without it.

Dior Show gives big-time volume. Lancome Defincils is great for lengthening. LashFood makes a great conditioner and mascara that help lengthen and thicken.

#SupermodelSecret: Want to be flirtier, sassier, stronger, or more sophisticated? Mix up your makeup! Believe it or not, it’s as easy as trying a different lip color. Hit up Sephora or Ulta and find a few new shades on for size.
