Be your own
kind of beautiful

Cinco de Mayo Cocktail Hour

I enjoy a good margarita … usually with a generous helping of chips and salsa!  It is SO hard to resist!!  We will address my tortilla chip addiction on next Monday’s blog, but today, on this lovely Friday before Cinco de Mayo, I will be sharing not one, but TWO stellar lower calorie margarita recipes.  A big thank you to our friend at Kitchen Dance Party who was so kind to share her lighter libation, called “La Flaca” with us.  Let me tell you that Team Sims wasted NO time heading into the test kitchen (AKA my house) to make sure this recipe was up to snuff for the readers of MollySims.com. It was a huge sacrifice, but we did it just for you!!  The results are delicious and we even came up with our own spicy riff on Dance Party’s version. As bathing suit season rapidly approaches, I am certain that my friends and I will be enjoying these recipes all summer long.  SALUD!!

La Flaca Margarita

  • 2 shots premium tequila (like Hornitos)
  • 1 shot Trader Joes margarita mix
  • 2 shots club soda
  • ½ shot Grand Marnier float
  • Served over ice with a salted rim

** Gorgeous water glasses gifted by Bib & Sola

For our spicy MS test kitchen version, we kicked it up a notch by adding chili seasoning to our salted rim as well as to sprinkling some of that spiced magic on cubed pieces of orange.  You can even toss your spicy orange pieces into the freezer before serving, to create your own perfect “ice” cubes.  A super effective method of cooling your drink, without watering it down. We are always thinking about YOU here at Team Sims!!

How ever you enjoy your margarita, it should go without saying that it is important to drink responsibly and never ever attempt to drink and drive.  We had a blast (almost too much fun) putting together our Cinco de Mayo party.  I can’t wait to share the rest of our shenanigans with you on Monday.  Before I sign off for the weekend, I wanted to also share our super easy to create and extremely drought tolerant centerpiece!

MacGyver would be envious of this random object symphony.  For under $10 you can put together this gorgeous pop of multi-color.
