Inside My 2 Year Old's "Cars" Themed Birthday Party
Our baby is officially two years old! I’ve never seen a child be more obsessed with one item more than my son is with cars. If it has 4 wheels, Grey will immediately become obsessed! So obviously, we had to throw a Cars themed birthday party for our Grey Grey. Let me tell you, he had the time of his life… and then it hailed.
How To Throw A Halloween Tea Party For Toddlers
Last week I decided to throw a little tea party for my Scarlett. Although we called it a “tea party” it was more of a “pumpkin decorating and cookie” party! In my book, Everyday Chic, we talk about throwing a party and it all stems from a theme. Well, today I’m going to share how we threw this event together with a simple idea that helped make this party come together.
Brooks and Scarlett's Back To School Must-Haves
When the new school year comes around, I love to get my kiddos new essentials. They each love their own items but then have a lot of the same favorites. So, I did some shopping and research and picked out what Scar and Brooks are currently loving for back-to-school. Not everything is necessarily for school, but items they like to play with, books they like to read, or just their favorite toys and games!
Where did this summer go?! First we were counting down the days until school was out, now I'm gearing up for back to school! I truly feel like June and July came and went in a blink of an eye. Well, it's officially the first Friday of August and it's time to soak up the last minutes of summer while still preparing for the kids to go back to school! So this month's favorites are catered more towards work and play so we can all have the best of both worlds before we run into Fall!
Inside Indiana Brooks' 6th Birthday Bash!
You all know that I don't tread lightly when it comes to a themed party. Like I've discussed in Everyday Chic, the easiest way to planning a party is to stick with a theme and running with it. Now that my kids have reached an age where they have specific interests and know what they want, I let them choose their themes. This year, Brooksie told me he wanted an Indiana Jones party and let me tell you, by the end of the day, there wasn't an excavation box in sight.

VIDEO: Quick & Easy Family Meal Hacks!
People are constantly asking me "how do you get it all done?" especially when it comes to feeding my family. I feel like that's the number one struggle most working moms have. And don't get me wrong, I definitely have help. I wouldn't be able to do have of the things in the daytime without them but when it comes to dinner, I'm on my own! I've shared my meal prep strategy but if I'm going to be real with you guys, there are some weeks where I don't have time to go to the store and cool for the entire week. Inner Work For Supermommas
As parents, we are always learning and adapting as our kids get older, change, and develop different needs. As women, professionals, wives, mothers, and friends, our needs are always changing too. Below are a few of the big issues that I find myself constantly navigating, some of which you might be navigating too. They are ongoing, and I’m doing my very best, but some days, some weeks— maybe even some years— are better than others.
My Favorite Clean Green DIYs!
We all know that April is the beginning of spring and spring cleaning! I spoke a little about keeping my space clean, green and glam. But today I'm sharing some of my clean green DIY household cleaners!
Inside Scarlett's Third Birthday + How To Plan A Party For Your Toddler
As many of you know via social media, we've been celebrating our Scar's birthday for the past week! She turned the big three this year and boy did we celebrate! I'm going to run through how we achieved the party of her dreams while answering some of your questions. Let's do this.
How I Keep My Space Clean, Green + Glam
Since Tuesday was the first day of Spring, I thought it was time to share some ways to go green while you're spring cleaning! In 2006, I first read Christopher Gavigan’s book Healthy Child, Healthy World, and it opened my eyes to some of the possible dangers of chemicals in many common household products.
What's In My Carry-On: For Myself & My Kiddos
Since Spring Break is coming up quickly and many of you are going on spring vacations, I'm here to share some of my tips for traveling with three children. I've been on planes with screaming kids, crying kids and bored kids. I've been on planes where one kid is throwing up, the other one can't stop crying and the third is running up and down the aisles. I am actually not joking. If I can get off a plane with a little bit of sanity, so can you and it all has to deal with what I strategically pack in my carry-on!
Inside My Kids' Playroom
In our previous house, we didn’t have a playroom. Our living room was also the playroom. I’m sure a lot of you can relate! In fact, the train tracks and train that Grandpa Ray gave Brooks were pretty much permanently on the coffee table. Today, we're taking you inside the most fun room in the house: the playroom.
How To Truly Age Gracefully
Aging is a biological reality that all of us share as long as we have the privilege to continue on this earth. And there are numerous benefits to aging. But in our culture, especially for women, aging is big fat negative. It’s associated with all kinds of bad things that we are supposed to “fight.” The language we use when we talk about aging is like we are in a war against nature and time: “Turn- back the clock.” “Try this new anti- aging miracle cream. “Fight wrinkles and sun spots.” And I’d be lying to you if I said that I was completely kumbaya about aging— that I love every dark spot and undereye circle and fine line so much that I want to sing a song about it. Hell, no. It’s especially hard when you’ve made a career in entertainment.
Our Parenting Principles
Parenting is, hands down, the toughest job in the world. Both Scott and I know that being an engaged parent is no small task and that there is no one right way to do it. But after three kids (and making many mistakes and learning along the way), we have discovered a few things that work for our family, most of the time. These are by no means the last word on parenting; the fact is, parenting is such an individualized thing that what works for one family will not necessarily work for another. Even so, I wanted to share a few ideas with you in hopes that what helped us might help your family too.
Grey's First Birthday Party: CAMP STUBER!
Yesterday I shared a video on my reflections from Grey's first year and today I'm excited to share how we got to celebrate it! You guys know how much I love a theme so we decided to go with Camp Stuber for baby Grey's first birthday! Why Camp Stuber? Well, it's honestly just what we call our home whenever we have play dates or other kids over. We feel like a camp most of the times. For Grey's party we had teepees, faux fur bear rugs, fake fire pits and more! The kids had the time of their lives!
