Summer is Calling: 4 Trends That Will Dominate This Year

By Caitlin Burnett

With each new season comes exciting new trends to try—and those for summer ‘21 are particularly enticing. Not only are they cool, but they can be easily incorporated into your existing wardrobe. From the throwback print Instagram is already loving to the textural trend that always feels elevated, these are the four summer trends you’re about to see everywhere.

1.

Retro Florals

70’s-inspired florals are having a major resurgence as of late, adorning everything from sundresses to blouses to hats. This retro print has officially gone from kitschy to cool, with almost every major brand offering an iteration of the trend. Pair them with neutral accessories for a chic, classic summer look.

High-Saturation Hues

Saying this summer’s biggest color trend is bold would be an understatement because high-saturation hues are officially taking over. Picture your favorite shade with the saturation turned all the way up—that’s the level these colors are on this season.

Think fuchsia, lime green, hot orange, and lemon yellow. This trend will be spotted on everything from dresses to swim to accessories, and these hues look even better paired together. Plus, these vibrant hues perfectly complement your tan.

Crochet

Crochet is as synonymous with summer as watermelon, but this season’s iteration of the trend is more elevated than in previous years. Designers have taken their favorite silhouettes and swapped the traditional fabrics for crochet, making each piece look unique. Adding a crochet piece to your look is the perfect way to add a pop of texture and dimension.

Cute Cutouts

Unexpected cutouts will be popping up everywhere this summer, adding a unique element to classic sundresses. Open backs and keyhole cutouts are a great way to show a bit of skin without feeling too exposed and add a bit of edge to an otherwise sweet dress. Designers across the board have been adding cutouts to everything, so this is a trend we can expect to see well into the fall as well.
