Master This Mermaid Makeup Look Just In Time For Halloween

Alright you guys, I’m officially putting the cat and mouse costumes to rest. Since my favorite movie is Splash this year’s costume is an ode to the amazing Daryl Hannah. This year’s Halloween costume is all about the mermaid. Watch my tutorial below to score the techniques and products you’ll need for the perfect mermaid makeup look:

I started off with taking my hair in small sections and using my DryBar “The Wrap Party Styling Wand” to make mermaid-like waves. Then used Ouai’s Dry Shampoo to give it a lot of texture.

Now, on to the makeup!

Step 1: I started with a base of foundation from Tarte’s Rainforest of the Sea water Foundation and then their Rainforst of the Sea Aquacealer Concealer and then a little bit of Kevin Aucoin’s sculpting contour powder.

Step 2: Use Lime Crime’s Hi-Lite eye shadow palette in “mermaids.”  First, apply the purple all over the base of your eyelids.

Step 3: Using your finger, pat Stila’s Magnificent Metals “pixi dust” eye shadow all over the base of your eye.

Step 4: Next up, take a pointer brush, tap it in the blue color on the mermaid palette and put it on the inner corners of each eye.

Step 5: Using any type of blue eyeliner, I used Estee Lauder’s Double Wear in “teal.” Apply it inside the water line and at the bottom of the lash line.

Step 6: Then go back to the blue color from the mermaid palette and sweep it under your bottom lashes to make your eyes “pop.”

Step 7: Sweep the pearl color from the palette on your brown bone, cheekbones and nose to give an extra glow.

Step 8: Use MAC’s extra dimension blush in “into the pink” to give a burst of color to your lips.

Step 9: Another product from MAC, we’re using their PatenPolish lip pencil in “Patentpink.” It’s a really good chubby that gives a lot of moisture and pigment.

Step 10: Last but not least, finish the look with a great sparkly pink lipgloss or any color like a blue or sheer color with sparkle would look great! I used Kaplan MD’s Lip 20 Gloss in “candy sparkle” which is out of stock but you can find a similar one here

Step 11: To really give it that splash of Daryl Hannah, throw some Bumble and Bumble hair spray and you’re ready to be a mermaid for the night!
