10 Foods To Help You Burn That Belly Fat

For All My Supermodel Mommas on the Go,

Good news ladies, you all should be snacking all day everyday!! What you eat in between meals matters more than you think. I MEAN… I’ve been trying to lose that last five pounds for a little while now, but these small changes have really, really helped me out! This combined with my #SimsFitness can speed up that metabolism and burn fat throughout the day. Its so, so, so necessary to think of your body as a a furnace, so keep adding fuel for it to burn up any pounds that you’re looking to shed. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE cooking for my family and friends and keeping a stocked fridge full of healthy goodies. SO, I am going to tell you exactly what DE-lish foods I’m OB-sessed with that you can snack on totally GUILT FREE!

In between your five small meal a day routine, you are DEFINITELY allowed to snack on these yummy foods, not too, too much of course!! Almonds are one of my favorite nuts, now not the whole bag, but in a baggie so you won’t be tempted to grab more! Eight almonds a day have been proven to keep the belly fat away, so it’s really great to eat these before bikini season ladies!  They are also AH-mazing for your heart, so don’t be afraid to push them on the whole family. If it’s going to be a long day, I usually just throw them in my bag before I run out the door.

Okay, so its no secret that grapefruits are actually a girl’s best friend and so necessary to complete any healthy breakfast. I’ve been eating grapefruits my whole life, and they are so refreshing, especially during the summer when you’re eating a light meal by the beach. Grapefruits are jam packed with Vitamin C, which is super important for your immune system and to help keep those colds from creeping up on you. Lord knows the last thing I want is a cold when I need to keep up with my little Brooksie all day! Don’t just think of it as a breakfast food and remember to eat the insides, cause they’re the best for you!

Berries are literally great for everything. Raspberries, blueberries and blackberries are my fave and Brooks loves them too! There’s nothing better than hitting that sweet spot than a big delicious strawberry. They’re full of antioxidants, which are AH-mazing for you, plus they look really pretty in an all white fruit bowl for the family to snack on. I usually add them to my yogurt for a quick snack, make sure it’s 0-1% fat ladies.

Speaking of yogurt, my fav, fav, fav brands are FAJE and Chobani. If it’s Greek vs. regular, I always go for the Greek cause they’re full of probiotics and have double the amount of protein. It’s the best snack to have during the day, remember ladies you should never go to dinner hungry.

So, I know everyone always says stay far, far away from carbs, but if you just switch out that piece of bread for a whole grain. Quinoa with some veggies makes for a great side. Use butternut squash, cauliflower, and kale to spice up any whole grain dish giving you a super tasty dinner in less than 20 minutes. Its really good to eat brown rice, quinoa and whole grain cereal in small doses, because it prevents the body from storing fat, like that bowl of pasta I ate at that dinner party the other night!

Next we have the chili pepper, which is my secret weapon for adding some kick to my veggie meals but also fires up my metabolism! I try to order as many hot curry and spicy dishes as I can. When I’m at home, I usually just toss a tablespoon of hot chilis that I get from the farmer’s market into my veggie soup.

A serving of cayenne pepper in a hot cup of lemon water is the best way to start the early day, and it cleanses your palette. Then I eat 5 egg whitesby Eggology, mix in some vegetables (lots of spinach), chicken and one slice of gluten free toast with one tablespoon of almond butter. As a morning meal, it just burns off the fat and keeps you full for longer. If I’m in a rush and feeling under the weather, I definitely go for my fave green smoothie, it’s such a treat!

People always ask me how I keep my muscles toned and maintain muscle mass. The answer is PROTEIN! Lean meat plays a large role in my diet. When I am at a restaurant, i’ll always add chicken, salmon or turkey into my salad. Don’t be afraid to be bossy at the restaurant. The key is to cook with as little butter as possible. My nutritionist said the more muscle I have, the better my body is at burning off all those unwanted calories!!

If you want to trim your waistline just a teensy bit to fit into your favorite mini skirt that perfectly singes your waist, I know I do, then drinking more green tea should do the trick! Yogi Green Tea super antioxidant is the best. I try to drink two to four cups a day and replace my coffee with it as much as possible. Green tea is CRAZY good for you and I love the energy it gives me in the morning. Green tea has been proven to help you burn up to 75 calories a day, which amounts to about seven pounds a year!! Not to mention it helps you age gracefully, lowers the risk of cancer and heart disease. I MEAN…its kind of the most magical drink EVER!

#SupermodelSecrets:  Try to stay under 200 calories, 10 grams of protein and close to 5 grams of fiber when snacking. Protein helps sustain your energy and hunger levels for a couple of hours. And remember all of this needs to always be washed down with lots and lots of water, like eight bottles of water a day is my MINIMUM!  I always carry a large water bottle with me wherever I go! Adding lemon is always really refreshing and also AH-Mazing for cleansing the body and helping digestion. Cut out artificial sweeteners. Practice portion control. Drink more water!
