Trend Alert: Layered Rugs

Sure, layering is a pretty basic style skill. But even if you’re a seasoned pro when it comes to scarves, cardigans and paper-thin tees, did you ever think to take that layering expertise and apply it to your home?

Here are my layered rugs in my dining room. It’s a simple idea, but it adds interest, dimension and texture to the room.

If you’re going for a similar look, just stick with this easy formula: Go with a larger, very simple jute or sisal rug on the bottom and then layer your bolder patterned rug on top. Avoid anything bulky on the bottom layer and only attempt to mix and match patterns if you’re really sure they go together!
