It’s hard to believe that in less than a month little baby Sims-Stuber will be here. I’m a little nervous of course—but mostly excited—and based on all of the overwhelming love and support I felt from my friends and family at the shower, this is going to be one very adored baby.

The shower was a gorgeous garden lunch hosted by some of my closest girlfriends and planned by the amazing Stefanie Cove and Yifat Oren. I didn’t want to torture people with shower games, so my friends and event planners came up with some pretty amazing alternatives…

1. Essential Oil Perfume Station. We had a station with an assortment of calming and soothing essential oils (think lavender and bergamot) where each guest puts a few drops of their favorite scent in a bottle while thinking a good thought or intention. They made a scent for me to take with me to the hospital when I have the baby, and it smells divine! My friends did the same for me at my bridal shower. I love perfume, and having a scent with so much meaning behind it makes it smell even better!

2. Letters to Baby Stuber. Everyone was handed a pen and an envelope with a number on it holding a blank piece of stationary. Everyone wrote a letter to Baby Stuber at the age on their envelope. He will get to open one on each birthday for almost 50 years! It’s so amazing. I wonder what they wrote to my son for when he turns 21?!

3. Bead Project. The sneaky devils aka my girlfriends sent a message behind my back to all of the guests asking them to bring a little bead, stone, or trinket that symbolized something special to them as a woman or a mother. Then, at the shower, we went around and each person said why they brought that particular bead. It was so touching. We laughed and cried! They are going to string together all of the beads to make me a necklace that I can wear to the hospital. Boy, do I feel loved.
