DIY Masks for Every Skin Type

It’s a fact … we all have different skin types. Many ingredients that would help your friend with dry skin will completely wreck havoc on your pores if you have oily skin. With that said, learn your type before throwing whatever you can find on your precious skin! It’s important to know what your skin needs and what ingredients are going to provide that healthy glow.

Luckily, for every skin type/issue, there’s a fix. I love to use natural ingredients. It makes it easy to whip up some skin magic at home! You would be surprised how many things sitting in your kitchen pantry are actually AMAZING for your skin.

A big thanks to Dr. Jacqueline Schaffer for sharing her recipes! You must check out Jacqueline’s skincare tutorials on her blog. She has great advice on natural and holistic skincare!

Mask For Oily Skin:

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon French green clay
  • 1 tablespoon Aloe Vera
  • 2 teaspoon witch hazel extract
  • ¼ teaspoon spirulina
  • 5 drops of tea tree oil

The Benefits For Your Skin Type:

  • French Green Clay: This clay is rich in silica, aluminum, calcium, iron, and magnesium. It’s used to absorb oil and impurities from the face and body (PERFECT for oily skin!)
  • Aloe Vera: Excellent moisturizer, rejuvenates the skin, and has anti-microbial properties that are ideal for treating acne.
  • Witch Hazel: This astringent causes constriction of the body tissues which has the ability to remove excess oil from skin and shrink down pores
  • Spirulina: In terms of acne and oil, spirulina prevents candida overgrowth that can cause breakouts. It also facilitates cell turnover that helps the skin heal faster
  • Tea Tree Oil: Just a small amount of this oil will penetrate the skin to unblock the sebaceous glands, disinfect pores, and dry out white and black heads

  • 1 tablespoon finely ground oatmeal
  • 1 tablespoon of almond meal
  • 1 tablespoon of glycerin
  • 1 teaspoon of almond oil

  • Oatmeal: If you ever wonder why your skin is itchy, it’s because the pH level is high. Oatmeal helps normalize your pH as well as being anti-inflammatory
  • Almond Meal: The vitamin E in almond oil minimize the visible signs of aging in the skin.
  • Almond Oil: Super hydrating. It’s also a good natural remedy for dark circles. All you have to do is leave it on for 15 minutes and remove!
  • Vegetable Glycerin: Glycerin has strong humectant properties which means it’s able to retain moisture. It’s also hypoallergenic and non-inflammatory aka PERFECT for sensitive and dry skin!
